Beautifully Centred

I'm planning on checking out the new Wes Anderson movie next week and I'm super excited. His movies are so beautifully shot and my favourite typographer created the type for my favourite Mr Anderson movie, Moonrise Kingdom. It's beautiful.

While browsing the ever distracting internet this week, I came across this amazing video above that demonstrates Mr Anderson's insane attention to detail and eye for beauty. So very very cool. Makes me even more excited for going to see the new The Grand Budapest Hotel. It's going to be beautiful. x

30 Before 30 • 03 Practice more Film Photography & 07 Contribute to an Art Show... again!

Today I posted my photos to the Brooklyn Art Library and crossed off number 3 and 7 (again!) on my 30 before 30 list.

I joined the A Million Little Pieces - Analog project a little while ago and just managed to get my film developed in time to post the photos off. Once I received my disposable camera, I sat there for weeks thinking of what to shoot. There were only 15 frames, so I couldn't waste them. I also tend to over think. After too long I decided to theme my photos - Where I Stood. As I get incredibly uncomfortable having my photo taken, a lot of 'selfies' actually involve my shoes. The theme seemed like a natural fit. So it began. I carried my disposable with me every day and just shot where I stood whenever I remembered.

This project was so much fun! It's getting me geared up to take out the old Minolta and start shooting film again. I forgot how excited I got going to pick up newly developed film. Love!

Anyway, here are a few of the shots.

I wish I going to be in Brooklyn to see this! You should check out the other projects the Brooklyn Art Library have going on. So much fun! Whether you're in to writing, drawing, painting, photography and the super fun Sketchbook Project that I participated in last year.

Go get inspired and get your hands dirty. x

30 Before 30 • 08 Learn a New Skill

It's about 7 weeks from my 30th birthday and I still have quite a few things to cross off my 30 before 30 list. However, last Monday night I crossed off 08 - Learn a new skill.

I attended one of The School's classes hosted by Megan Morton and Kara Rosenlund at Toby Scott's photography studio in Clayfield. Kara's stunning photography and ability to capture the most beautiful moments of everyday life and long forgotten items made me super excited to attend her 'Vignettes' class. I was not disappointed.

After running through some golden rules of vignetting (that's a word, right?), inspiring and motivating the class with her background and how she got to where she is now, sharing some intimate details of her past and showing us how it was done - it was our turn.

All while listening to Kara, I was eyeing off a super cute horse ribbon rosette in amongst the table of goodies awaiting us. As soon as it was our turn, I headed straight for the rosette. However, someone else had the same idea and it was gone. So I tracked her down and asked to join her group of two. The other person was after a shell that the same woman had picked up! This is how our group was formed. This is what we produced.

With a little help from Kara of course...

For anyone thinking of attending one of Kara Rosenlund's classes. Don't think. Just do it. Such a fun night, you'll develop existing skills or gain new ones and meet some really fun and creative people. It's a beautiful night. There may even be a pineapple or two just laying about...

Moodboard Monday • Arctic Angles

We leave for NZ in 6 weeks and I'm obsessing over arctic blues and greys and mountain peaks escaping the early spring of Queensland!

Don't be surprised if these themes make their way into some new wedding stationery soon.

Enjoy your Monday! x

Playing with Popsicles

I've been working on a lot of new designs lately involving lots of fun spring and summer vibes - lots of bright colours and fun prints! However, I do get caught up procrastinating... So I made these! I'm thinking of turning these into wallpapers for your desktop and iphone... Leave a comment if you would like these for your device!
